Gomà-Camps Consumer facility in Zaragoza, Spain
Navigator’s acquisition includes the Gomà-Camps Consumer facility in Zaragoza, Spain

The Navigator Company has completed the acquisition of all shares representing the share capital of Spain’s Gomà-Camps Consumer and French company Gomà-Camps France (now GC Consumer).

Navigator has increased the existing tissue production capacity in Aveiro and Vila Velha de Ródão with the plant of Ejea de los Caballeros, in the vicinity of Zaragoza, providing 35,000 tons more paper production and up to 60,000 tons of finished products.

It said the acquisition of the Consumer Tissue business of the Gomà-Camps Group “is part of the ambitious growth and diversification plan of the Navigator Group, and reinforces its strategic position in the Iberian tissue market, becoming the second largest player in just eight years, with an annual production capacity of 165,000 tonnes.”

Navigator diversified into the industry in 2015 through the acquisition of the AMS company in Vila Velha de Ródão, a plant whose annual output capacity stands at 60,000 tons.

This was followed in 2018 by the building of a tissue industrial complex in Aveiro (70,000 tons per year), interconnected with Navigator’s pulp factory.

It added that the integration of the plant will contribute to speeding up growth in the tissue business, which has become the second most important area in terms of turnover within the company, ahead of the sale of renewable energy, pulp and packaging.

Navigator estimations point to around €300m in consolidated sales of high-quality tissue paper.
