(News from RISI) – The strike at SCA’s Cyr-en-Val tissue mill in France which began on 3 June has come to an end.

An SCA representative said the site reopened on 18 June. He said that shipments would restart in the 19 June.

Negotiations on social measures related to the mill’s impending closure will continue, he added.

Workers initially downed tools for an indefinite period on 3 June in order to protest SCA’s layoff plan and severance pay offer, according to unions.

In April, SCA announced that it would close the Saint-Cyr-en-Val facility by this October. Some 119 workers will be affected.

The mill’s production activities will be transferred to the firm’s Gien mill while the converting operations will be moved to the Theil facility, both in France.
