Peru’s Papelera Reyes has boosted its production capacity after starting up an Eil / Replus Tissue-supplied Crescent Former tissue machine.

PM2 started production at the company’s Callao-based plant on 23 February, and one week following start-up was already running at a speed of 1,700m/min and producing 90tpd.

The scope of supply includes a turnkey plant from pulper conveyor up to pope reel, a Crescent Former machine and a 15ft Steel Yankee.

A hood with Reenergy system – a gas turbine which generates the electrical energy for the plant and its exhaust fumes feed the hood and a recovery boiler – will also be started up soon.

The supplier said this means that there is only one source (natural gas) that produces 100% of the electrical and thermal energy required by the plant.

Stock preparation for virgin fibre designed to run 100% short fibre, and the line has a net sheet width at reel at 2.7m. It is designed to have a maximum operating speed of 2,000m/min and to produce 130tpd.

The entire plant’s mechanical parts, process, electrification, automation, aerothermal system was designed, manufactured, and supplied by Italy’s Eil / Replus Tissue, the supplier’s first ever start-up.
