Turkish tissue manufacturer Eczacıbaşı has expanded its presence in the Moroccan tissue market after acquiring Jeesr Industries.
The acquisition was finalised in June by Turkish subsidiary ECP, which settled with its manufacturing facility in Casablanca almost two years ago.
Eczacıbaşı said: “As the leading company in the branded tissue market in Türkiye, we have added a new step to our growth in international markets.
“We have taken the second big step in the Moroccan market, which we entered with exports in 2014, after the production facility we established in 2022.
“We have acquired Jeesr Industries, the leading tissue manufacturer in Morocco, and its brands.
“We are proud of this acquisition, which we have realised with our vision of becoming a regional power in our fields of activity.”
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced a €45.5m loan to Eczacıbaşı Consumer Products Maroc (ECP Maroc) to enable the Moroccan subsidiary of Turkish group Eczacıbaşı Consumer Products (ECP) to acquire Jeesr.
Jeesr Industries currently operates a tissue mill with a capacity of 30,00tpy, where a Metso tissue machine produces jumbo rolls for converting.
It produces tissue paper brands Dalaa Cotonia, Sany, and Pandoo.
