UK-based Star Tissue has been chosen as one of the ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Europe’, an annual report created by the London Stock Exchange Group.

It celebrates some of the fastest-growing SMEs from across the continent and also examines the opportunities and challenges they face, looking at the sectors and trends that will shape the future of Europe’s economies.

Managing director of the family-run tissue converter Khalid Saifullah told TWM that the company has made continued investments since it was established in 2003.

“We’ve been growing between 10-15% year-on-year and our continued investments in converting lines has meant we can improve our manufacturing and service abilities, and also diversify our product offering,” he said.

“We are honoured to be up among the elite of Europe and look forward to continuing our growth ahead of the hygiene paper market.”

Star Tissue converts AfH products, manufacturing private label products for major suppliers and distributors in the personal hygiene, catering and medical markets in the UK and Ireland.

Around 20% of its output is for the consumer tissue market and its premium quality brands include Sirius, ecoroll, Bliss and Evotex.

The company currently has three PCMC-supplied converting lines that convert 18,000tpy.

It is looking to invest in a fourth in the near future.
