The Sofidel Group has announced that its Chairman Edilio Stefani suddenly passed away at his home on 30 January 2025.
The company said: “This is a tremendous loss for everyone at the Sofidel Group, who express their profound sorrow for this loss and extend their condolences to the entire Stefani family.”
Born in Lucca on 31 January 1960, Mr. Stefani was a shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sofidel, one of the leading tissue producers in the world.
After completing his technical and commercial studies in 1980, he joined the company alongside his father, Cavaliere del Lavoro, and co-founder Emi Stefani.
He made his debut in the group in the Fine Paper plant in Porcari, Lucca, now known as Soffass Via Leccio.
Until December 2008, he was General Manager of Soffass Via Leccio; from January 2009, he was Business Development Director and Technical Supervisor of the Group.
In March 2021, he took on the position of Chairman of Sofidel.
