Sofidel has commissioned a 4.65 MW photovoltaic system at its Circleville plant in Ohio.
Installed on the roof of the reel warehouse built as part of the site’s recent expansion, the system consists of 8,010 photovoltaic panels and has a total installed capacity of 4.65 MW.
The investment will help supply renewable electricity to the Circleville facility.
Since becoming operational, approximately 1,084 tonnes of CO₂ emissions were avoided between January and June 2026 based on the area’s market-based emission factor of 454.9 gCO₂/kWh.
The project follows the recent start-up of the plant’s third paper machine, bringing its annual production capacity to over 200,000 tons.
Antonio Cuccarese, Sofidel America Capital Projects Director – Paper Mill and Construction, said: “The commissioning of the Circleville photovoltaic system will enable us to significantly reduce the environmental impact of one of our key production sites.
“It marks another step forward in the group’s strategy to expand the use of renewable energy worldwide.
“Improving the energy efficiency of our operations is not only a fundamental environmental priority, but also an essential competitive lever for Sofidel.”
