Italy’s Cartiera del Vignaletto has increased its production capacity after investing in a Toscotec-supplied complete cogeneration plant upgrade at its facility in Zevio.
The aim of the rebuild was to increase the mill’s energy efficiency, with the project featuring a complete upgrade of the cogeneration plant and air systems of PM4 and PM5.
Toscotec’s scope of supply covered the complete rebuild of the thermal power system. This upgrade enables the full recovery of the gas turbine’s exhaust gas to supply heat to the air systems for both hoods, as well as to generate both high- and low-pressure steam for PM4 and PM5.
The two paper machines have a combined capacity of 46,000tpy and manufacture high-quality tissue products including facial tissue, toilet paper, tissues, and kitchen towel.
Giovanni Pomari, Plant Director at Cartiera del Vignaletto, said: “Completing this project required strong cooperation between Toscotec and our technical team at Cartiera del Vignaletto, supported by the long-term vision of our ownership.
“The result gives our mill a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy platform for its future development.”
The site is equipped with a 5.5 MW gas turbine capable of supplying electrical power to both machines.
Founded in 1966, Cartiera del Vignaletto produces jumbo and rewound rolls of different grades ranging from 15 to 40 gsm, covering the complete range of tissue products.
