Italian tissue giant Sofidel confirms its intention to enhance its production capacity at its Duluth site in America.
A spokesperson for Sofidel told TWM: “Regarding a new investment in the Duluth plant, we can confirm that our current intention is to enhance the production activity of the facility through the construction of a converting plant and an automated warehouse.
“The project would lead to the creation of 160 additional jobs. In this regard, contacts with local government entities are currently underway”.
The former ST Paper tissue plant was acquired by Sofidel in January 2024 and currently produces 65,000tpy of parent rolls for the consumer products sectors.
In January 2023, the site started up an Andritz-supplied PrimeLineTM W 2000 high-speed machine.
