Germany’s WEPA Giershagen records a constant speed of 2,200mpm

Germany’s WEPA Giershagen has recorded a constant speed of 2,200mpm on its Toscotec-supplied AHEAD-2.0S tissue line, PM19.

The machine came online in October 2015 and has since produced high-quality tissue from 15 to 16.5gsm basis weight at the reported constant speed.

Frank-Peter Folcz, plant manager of the Germany-based tissue mill, said: “Concerning the layout of the machine, we decided for a double press with 2x 120 kN/m line load.

“This was a new way for us, but it was exactly the right way. In order to produce paper in this speed range in a stable manner and with the highest performance, you do not only need a good machine – motivated and very well-trained staff is just as important. This combination is key to success”.

The WEPA Group produces hygiene paper products including toilet paper, towel paper, handkerchiefs and napkins at 13 production sites in Europe.
