Integrated tissue manufacturer Royal Paper Converting has expanded its presence across the American market after acquiring South Carolina-based Sun Paper Company.

Sun Paper is a family-owned producer of consumer paper products and private label.

Kevin Otero, Chief Executive at Royal Paper, told TWM that the company is making “some big investments” in the Duncan facility to expand tissue and towel production, and adding capacity with two new napkin lines that will be on-stream by the end of 2021.

He said: “We are very excited about this acquisition as it better positions us to serve our customers across the US and means we can have a stronger presence in both east and west.

“Our vision is to build on Royal Paper and Sun Paper’s legacy of quality, flexibility and reliability, and become the preferred private label supplier for our customers across bath tissue, towel, napkins and facial tissue.”

He added that with the acquisition, Royal Paper is also broadening its overall leadership team.

“The Salgado family at Sun Paper have grown up in the tissue business since literally they were kids, so they are a tremendous addition to our team, bringing years of experience,” he said.
