WEPA Group has started up a Toscotec-supplied AHEAD 2.2S tissue machine at its Piechowice site in Poland.
Part of a full turnkey supply, the machine has a sheet trim width of 2.7m and a maximum operating speed of 2,100m/min.
With an annual production capacity of 36,000tpy, the plant increases its total capacity to 70,000 tonnes of raw paper which is processed into toilet paper, kitchen paper, paper towels and cleaning rolls, primarily for the AfH market.
The TM features Toscotec’s shoe press of new generation TT NextPress, a third-generation-design TT SYD, gas-fired hoods with multiple stages of energy recovery, and an in-line shaft puller integrated in the pope reel section.
Two converting systems were also commissioned: an industrial roll line for paper towels and toilet paper, and a V-folding line for paper towels.
Martin Krengel, WEPA Group Chief Executive, said: “Our willingness to invest in state-of-the-art technology that meets the high-quality standards we have for our products and contributes to implementing our sustainability targets is an inherent component of our future-oriented corporate strategy.
“After the successful start-up of our first tissue paper machine in Piechowice in 2017, commissioning the second system further enhances the growth opportunities for our Professional division in this highly promising Eastern European market.”
The WEPA Group has 21 paper machines and a production capacity of approximately 780,000tpy.
