ADNIP STARTS UP PM2

Abu Dhabi National Industrial Projects (ADNIP) has started up a new PM2 from OverMeccanica. The new machine will trim at 3.6 m and run at up to 2000 m/min making an estimated 40,000 tons/yr of facial tissue, toilet paper and kitchen towel.

ADNIP general manager Patrick Collins commented that “the total expenditure of $54 million also included a DIP plant from Kadant- Lamort to supply 80 tons/day pf deinked fibre from mixed office waste paper grades. This plant started up in July 2007.”

TW asked him about the plans for Phase 3 of the mill. “Regarding any future expansion on the site, including PM 3, this was part of the original business plan, but no decision will be made until the Q3 2008, at the earliest,” Collins replied.

CROWN PAPER STARTS UP PM2

At the end of July Crown Paper Mill started up its new 80 ton/day PM2 at Ajman in the UAE. The start-up of the 2.75 m machine was described as “successful” and the machine is making saleable paper. Commercial running speed of the new machine will be 1700 m/min. In the initial phase, the machine is running on virgin pulp. A new Comer deinking plant is due to start in November, however, offering the option of wholly or partly recycled furnish. The company will sell jumbo reels to converters in the domestic market but is also expected to export some tonnage within the region.
