INDEVCO STARTS WORK ON IPI
Indevco
was due to break ground in May for Interstate Paper Industries
SAE, a new tissue mill to produce recycled and virgin jumbo
tissue rolls. Located in Sadat City, Egypt, the new mill
will increase Indevco roup’s
current production capacity from 30,000 to 80,000 MT/year.
After a short delay (civil works were due to begin in
April) the projects now looks to be back on track.
Stock preparation
installation will begin in September/October, with machine erection
to follow in January 2008. Production is expected to start in July 2008.
The
project is directed by the management of sister company, Unipak Tissue
Mill, in Lebanon. “With
the goal of repeating success and experience at UTM,
the management will ensure process optimization, machine
efficiency, and quality assurance of pure virgin and
recycled products produced by Interstate Paper Industries
SAE” said the company. The mill will supply tissue
converters across the Middle East, Africa and Europe.
TURKEY
LILA KAGIT STARTS INSTALLATION IN TURKEY (Story contributed

Lila Kagit has begun installing a tissue paper machine
at its new mill in Corlu, located around 100 km west
of Istanbul, in Turkey. The 195 tonne/day crescent former
unit, which will be the company's first PM, was supplied
by Metso Paper. The Finnish firm is also providing the
main equipment for the machine's stock preparation system.
Startup is scheduled for the third quarter.
Lila Kagit recently
ordered a new converting line from Fabio Perini for the
new tissue plant. The unit will manufacture toilet rolls
and kitchen towels. Startup is scheduled for the fourth
quarter. The firm is also in talks with potential suppliers
for other converting equipment for folded products.
JORDAN
NUQUL STARTS PM 4 INSTALLATION
The Nuqul Group has started installing
its 54,000 tonne/yr tissue machine, PM 4, at the new Al
Snobar Hygienic Paper Mill in Amman, Jordan, according
to RISI.
The mill is based next to the group’s Al-Keena
Hygienic Paper Mill.
The Metso Paper 5.5 m wide unit, which
will have an operating speed of 2,000 m/min. It is due
to start up during the fourth quarter of this year, with
production based on virgin pulp.
The Nuqul Group has its
headquarters in Amman, Jordan, and operates three paper
mills: Al Keena in Jordan, plus Al Bardi and Al Sindian
in Egypt.
