Technology Showcase
400 FOR PERINI OPEN HOUSE

To coincide with Tissue World Nice, Fabio Perini and KPL Packaging, together with W+D, the new Körber group member, organized an Open House in Lucca. More than 300 visitors attended two sessions, one for Italian customers on the Friday before the show, the other a week later.

Several new KPL Packaging machines linked to Fabio Perini Converting lines were on display in four lines due to be shipped to customers the following week. They included:
High speed line for tissue rolls (toilet/kitchen towel) consisting of the Casmatic A5T wrapper and the Casmatic S35 bundler . This line represents the latest in KPL Packaging’s high technology.

The Casmatic A5T is the top wrapper in the KPL Packaging portfolio. It combines high-speed product flexibility with automatic changeover. More than 50 different pack configurations can be produced, with an average changeover time of 10 minutes (with one operator). The Casmatic S35 gives high productivity and product flexibility; producing bundles from small to big sizes, with packs or also naked rolls directly fed by the log-saw.

The line shown produced kitchen towel rolls. Customers showed great interesting in the new S35, which can reach speeds of 35 bundles/min. During the demonstration, the visitors had the opportunity to see the potential of this machine. It ran at 40 bundles/min. This speed achieved thanks to the innovative cut/seal unit consisting of four couples of cut/seal bars that move around two rings.

During the open house a complete changeover was shown on both Casmatic A5T and Casmatic S35, to prove their high flexibility, with very impressive results.

Also on display was a medium-speed line for tissue rolls (toilet/kitchen towel) with the Casmatic T100 wrapper .This is a new wrapper capable of reaching the flexibility and changeover performances of a Casmatic A5T, but it is recommended for medium productivity and is available at lower cost.

The key element here is KPL Packaging’s innovative wrapping cycle, the Tumbler, that is really simple. It consists of one group that wraps the film around the product with a 180°'b0 rotation. This group needs no elevator or overhead flight unit. The result is a simple unit, easy to adjust when the product dimension changes.

The machine is able to produce a wide range of pack configurations: toilet rolls in horizontal and vertical position, and kitchen towel rolls in horizontal position. During the Open House a complete changeover was carried out on this machine too.

The third line on display was a line for industrial rolls with a CMB 202 dedicated to the primary wrapping of ‘big’ kitchen towel rolls produced by Fabio Perini with its coreless line (the rolls were without cores). The CMB202 is a well-proven and successful machine. It was designed to bundle hygienic and kitchen roll packs but its versatility makes it possible to bundle or wrap a wide range of products, including industrial rolls, with very few adjustments. Thanks to its modular design, just by adding the right infeed unit, CMB 202 offers wide flexibility. At the Open House CMB 202 was displayed for a primary wrapping of six industrial rolls using a pre-printed film (the machine can be equipped with a print registration unit in order to center the printed film around the product).

Finally, a complete line for napkins was on display: the KPL Packaging wrapper CMF 100. The great versatility of this new wrapper allows the user to wrap different types of products such as napkins, towels, facial tissue etc. The wrapper is easy to operate: the use of servomotors and step-by-step motors for the main CMF 100 functions also facilitates size change operations since there are no manual adjustments to modify the machine phases. Every phase is memorized inside the operator panel. It is sufficient to recall it according to the format, thus assuring a high precision and repeatability of the regulations.

The machine was shown with optional groups such as film perforator and labeler in order to add to the pack the open-close functionality usually requested by the napkin market.TW
