Toscotec extends presence in Asia

Toscotec has boosted its presence in Asia with a Steel Yankee Dryer order and agency agreements in Japan and South Korea.

A Toscotec patented TT SYD 12 FT will be fitted as part of a rebuild on PM 2 at Japanese company Nishinihon Eizai, which produces tissue based on recycled fibre.

The installation will increase production speed as well as save on energy costs.

Marco Dalle Piagge, Toscotec Asia & Pacific general manager, said Nishinihon Eizai is expected to reduce its energy costs and increase overall production by more than 10%. “This can be achieved through the drying process, which is based on the Yankee and hood. It is well known that drying paper with the Yankee is more efficient than using the hood,” he said.

He added that the company´s TT SYD is the “special one”. “It has a lot of benefits: we can guarantee more production in addition to the energy savings.”

“Green label paper and the use of waste paper as raw material are becoming key factors for the hygiene products market in South Korea.” Marco Dalle Piagge, Toscotec Asia & Pacific general manager

Nishinihon Eizai was founded in 1963 and is managed by Yasuhito Goda.

The mill is based in Tatsuno, near Osaka, and it has six paper machines and produces 2,500tpm of toilet roll and tissue towel made from 100% waste paper.

Elsewhere, Toscotec signed agency agreements with Shinsei Corporation in Japan and Cleantech Corporation in South Korea.

Dalle Piagge said: “The Japanese market is becoming more interesting by the day because there are fewer than 230 tissue machines operating in the country, most of which are quite old, and require replacement with new technology focused on energy saving. There are also good prospects for the kitchen towel market in the country.”

He added that in South Korea, the kitchen towel market has expanded by 40% since 2002: “Green label paper and the use of waste paper as raw material are becoming key factors for the hygiene products market in the country.”

Toscotec Asia & Pacific has recently concluded sales of Steel Yankees to Mirae Paper Co in Jeonu and Daewang Paper Industry Co in Gunsa.

Mirae Paper has three paper machines producing a total of some 180tpd of tissue. Toscotec will install a TT SYD 12 FT on PM3 with 3130mm face length and patented insulation system.

PM3’s speed is expected to increase from 1400 to 1700mpm.

Daewang Paper has four tissue paper machines giving a capacity of around 190tpd.
