G-P’S BURANDT
TO LEAD INNOVATION AND SUPPLY CHAIN INITIATIVES

Mike
Burandt, executive vice president - North American consumer
products for Georgia- Pacific, has accepted new responsibilities
to lead company-wide innovation efforts and to oversee
a major new supply-chain optimization program for the company.
He will maintain overall responsibility for Georgia-Pacific's
commercial tissue, Dixie, bleached board, communication
papers and Mexican tissue businesses, as well as the company's
North American consumer products research and technology
group. Burandt remains an executive vice president and
a member of Georgia-Pacific's board of directors. He
continues to report to Joe Moeller, Georgia-
Pacific chairman and chief executive officer.
Burandt joined Georgia-Pacific as director of
sales for the consumer products division in
1988. He was promoted through a number of
positions and became senior vice president -
packaged products in 1998. In 2001, he was
named president - North American consumer
products and in 2003 became an executive vice
president of the company. Kathy Walters,
president - North American commercial
business and communication papers, has been
promoted to group president - U.S. retail tissue
and international consumer products. In her
expanded role, Walters will report directly to Jim Hannan, president and chief
operating officer for Georgia-Pacific. She will have leadership
responsibility for the company's U.S. retail tissue, towel
and napkin businesses, and the international consumer products
business. John O'Donnell, president - North American retail
business, and Bill Schultz, president - international consumer
products, now will report to Walters. Walters brings a
wealth of leadership experience to her new role. Prior
to joining Georgia-Pacific in 2004, Walters served as president
and CEO of Sappi Fine Paper North America. She previously
held a number of executive positions with Kimberly- Clark
and Scott Paper Company. Georgia-Pacific also announced
that Sean Fallmann, president - Dixie, has been pomoted
to president - U.S. commercial tissue, Dixie and paper.
Fallmann will continue to report to Mike Burandt, but will
assume additional responsibility for the U.S. commercial
tissue and communication papers businesses, formerly led
by Walters.
Fallmann joined the company in 1996 as senior brand manager for Quilted Northern(r)
bath tissue. He held a number of leadership positions in the tissue business
before being named vice president and general manager of Dixie retail in 2000.
He was named president - Dixie in 2004. He previously held positions with Grolier
Interactive and Kraft Foods, Inc.
