Tissue World Asia gathers pace
A strong turnout at Tissue World Asia shows a growing interest in the region in the latest technology for tissue making and converting

The tissue business is gearing itself up for Tissue World in Nice – the “original” Tissue World. But Tissue World has spread its wings in recent years, with The Americas and the Asia shows becoming vital fixtures in their regions. Held in Shanghai, China, in November, Tissue World Asia saw a substantial rise in visitors to nearly 4,300, up from 2,400 in 2004. The conference was also lively and wellattended.

More than half the 160 delegates were international, proving this is far more than a local show. Visitors came from as far as the US, South America and the Middle East – keen to be part of the vibrant tissue scene in Asia.

The next Tissue World Asia takes place in Shanghai, November 19-21, 2008, by which time a number of new, high-output tissue machines will have been built in the region. These include lines at Vinda Paper, Shanghai Dongguan Paper, Hengan Holding, APP, New Toyo Pulppy/Corelex, and Fujian Hengan. All are sited in China except the New Toyo Pulppy/Corelex project which is in Vietnam – a good sign that some of China’s strongly developing tissue habit is rubbing off on its neighbors. This show can only go from strength to strength. TW
