AUSTRALIA
APP to appeal against anti-dumping
penalties
Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), recently penalized by the Australian
Customs Service for dumping toilet tissue in Australia, is to
appeal against the decision. It has threatened to take its case
to the Federal Court if the appeal fails.
Pindo Deli (Indonesia) and Gold Hongye (China), both part of
the group, were served with dumping notices late last year. This
followed complaints from Australia's two largest toilet paper
producers, Kimberly-Clark and SCA, which led to a year-long investigation
by Customs.
Tissue imports will be penalized with additional duties of 8-40%
following the decision.
