Voith Paper improves ATMOS technology
Voith Paper has introduced the ATMOS press. "With the new press, the
machine with the ATMOS technology now has similar energy consumption
to conventional tissue machines, around 2500-2700 kWh/ton and produces
tissue paper with premium quality, ie with bulk and absorption capacity up
to 100% higher. As comparison, TAD , also used to produce premium tissue paper,
has an energy consumption of about 7000 kWh/ton,” said Rogério Berardi, sales
and marketing manager of Voith Paper tissue.
Due to the drying principle that combines high vacuum, hot and humid air
and, now, also the pressing of only 25% of tissue paper, ATMOS has become more
environmentally friendly and economically feasible, the company says.
The development of the new ATMOS press was entirely performed by the Tissue
Research and Development Center located in São Paulo – Brazil, as well as the
ATMOS technology as a whole, launched in 2007.
TailDoc from Metso for tail threading
TailDoc is a new economical compressed air operated tail threading solution
by Metso for double-fabric dryer sections. It allows fast and automated tail
threading and minimal tail threading waste. Smooth, quick and reliable tail
threading boosts the production efficiency of paper machines.
TailDoc tail threading units thread the sheet tail through the machine with
the help of compressed air. TailDoc consists of a doctor blade and a blade
holder. The doctor blade separates the sheet tail from the cylinder surface
with the help of a counter-directed air blow and guide blows usher the tail
to the next fabric nip. Nozzles placed in the blade holder area create a tail
stabilizer zone that settles the tail, prevents cross-machine sway and ensures
fast tail tensioning and smooth transfer. TailDoc units are equipped with a
turning mechanism that facilitates moving the tail threading doctor to its
operating position against the dryer cylinder and releasing it back to its
home position.
TailDoc tail threading solution is suitable for double-fabric dryer sections
of paper or board machines. It is available for all paper grades. It is easy
to replace existing threading systems with TailDoc due to its minimum space
requirement. Therefore TailDoc is suitable for both rebuilds and new machines.
TailDoc tail threading units are mounted either on the section frame or on
existing doctor beams.
BTG launches new creping doctor
In keeping with its strategy of develop products to raise
productivity and cut costs, BTG has launched a new blade for the tssue segment,
Duroblade®-Velvet™. It is designed to enhance tissue softness while reducing
the amount of furnish, leading to cost savings on raw materials.
According to BTG, its benefits are: enhanced tissue softness; potential
high savings on furnish costs; it is safe for the Yankee dryer surface;
improved blade performance stability/repeatability; high lifetime potential;
and improved productivity thanks to stable tissue quality
Features include chromium-oxide-based plasma-sprayed ceramic material;
good resistance to particle- and contaminant-induced chipping; little or
no bulk-drop at blade start; engineered material structure; excellent friction
compatibility with the Yankee dryer. This product also enables the tissue
maker to increase tissue bulk without modifying process conditions. |

Simec Revolver for narrow-web anilox
Simec Group has introduced a new version of its Revolver
handling and storage system, which is designed for narrow-web cylinders
for the label branch.
The Revolver has a dual function: it allows the transfer of the cylinders
from the printing unit to the cleaning system and afterwards to the warehouse
and also serves as storage unit. All the Revolver mechanisms and devices
are aimed at ensuring the movement of the rollers with the utmost care in
order to avoid any possible damage. Statistically, most of the damage (sometimes
so severe as to require cylinders complete refurbishment) are typically
the consequence of these operations.
The Revolver represents the ideal solution to ensure a correct cylinder
handling and storage in order to reduce the costs for refurbishments and
to have more efficient storage organisation without having to invest in
expensive and bulky stocking systems thus keeping a constant production
quality over the time. |
