Technical Views: Toshiba Teli 12MP hi-speed camera

To gain production cost advantages, highvolume manufacturers rely on visionguided robotic systems for the precise identification, handling, packaging and placing of components. However, as the pace of manufacturing increases, these "pick-andplace" robots require faster, higher resolution cameras to accurately perform their assembly duties.

Establishing an optimal imaging platform for demanding pick-and-place applications, Toshiba Teli America, Inc now offers its CleverDragon CSC12M25BMP19, a CMOSbased machine vision camera boasting a proprietary and patented twelve-megapixel 1.9-inch CMOS monochrome progressive scan sensor. The new camera offers HXGA 4096 (H) x 3072 (V) pixel resolution at 25- frames-per-second (fps) full-frame speed. By combining high speed readout and ultra high resolution with sharp image quality, along with signal-to-noise ratio that is close to a traditional CCD, the camera provides the fine detail for more accurate X Y coordinate of parts and greater overall throughput. To obtain the same resolution of this 12MP camera, 49 qty VGA cameras would need to be used.
