LATIF PAPER TO MODERNISE PM TO ADD CAPACITY
(NEWS BY RISI)

Latif Paper, the leading Iranian producer of hygienic paper, has ordered a rebuild of a 2.74 m trim tissue machine from Andritz, which currently has a design speed of 1400 m/min. After the rebuild, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008, the machine will produce high-grade hygienic papers. Andritz will incorporate technology during the rebuild which will considerably reduce the machine’s consumption of fresh water, despite a 40% capacity increase.

Andritz’s scope of supply consists of a new PrimeFlow headbox, a PrimeForm CrescentFormer, and a new EquiDry hood. Also included is detailed engineering, as well as the necessary instrumentation, automation, pumps, and agitators. The existing control system will be updated to the latest state-ofthe- art by adding an Andritz PrimeControl system.

The wastepaper preparation and the approach flow system will also be modernised. Pulping and coarse screening will be modernised with the proven FibreFlow®'a8 concept (FibreFlow® drum pulper and ModuScreen coarse screens). To maximise ink removal from the secondary fibre, new SelectaFlot flotation cells will be installed.

Andritz will also modernise the sludge treatment process with a new gravity table and belt press. The cleaning stage will be equipped with AhlCleaners and ModuScreen fine screens.

Thickening capacity will be improved with a new Andritz pulp screw press and dispersing system, along with a new bleaching stage. Fibre recovery will be maximised with a RotoWash fibre recovery. Deashing will be controlled with the help of micro-flotation.system. A new fan pump will be incorporated into the approach flow system.
