JASPER MARDON PRIZE FOR NALCO TECHNICAL PAPER
A Nalco technical paper presented at the 2008 Appita Annual Conference & Exhibition was awarded the prestigious Jasper Mardon Memorial Prize. Recognising the greatest practical technological contribution to papermaking, the award was given to Nalco’s Przem Pruszynski, Jogeir Munkeby and Paul John Puiatti, and was acknowledged by a subcommittee of the Appita Technical Committee.
Entitled “The use of white water closed loop consistency control to provide chemical savings and more stable wet end chemistry conditions of a newsprint machine”, the paper focused on technology best practices and control methodology to drive stability, productivity and end-product quality on a fast newsprint machine. The paper was voted the best from among 15 candidates in the conference program.
